About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for two Full-Time Lead Engineering Technicians, Instrumentation Logistics (NJ-0802-03) to work at the 412th Test Engineering Group, 812th Aircraft Instrumentation Test Squadron (812 AITS/ENIM or 812 AITS/ENIB), at Edwards Air Force Base, California.

The purpose of this position is to serve as a team leader for engineering related support to instrumentation engineering staff for aircraft data acquisition system T2 Modifications including fabrication, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair as well as engineering related logistics support for instrumentation flight test operations.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2024 salary range: $69,729 – $109,673 per year/ (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
Travel Requirements: No travel

Desired Skills:
– Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
– Computer skills with Microsoft Office and spreadsheets required.
– Demonstrated leadership ability through experience, mentoring and continuous self-improvement desired.

Major Duties:
– Be a subject matter expert in T-2 Modification component research, acquisition, fabrication, and control.
– Serve as a team leader providing support to instrumentation engineering staff for aircraft data acquisition system T-2 Modifications and configuration changes including fabrication, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair as well as engineering related support for instrumentation flight test operations.
– Documents processes, procedures, and guides to standardized operations.
– Oversee and provide training, conduct inspections, and provide feedback to Squadron management.
– Responsible for planning and coordinating the procurement of T-2 Modification equipment and supplies, and construction of test support devices for use during testing.
– Establish and maintain record keeping systems as necessary to inventory, control, and track all instrumentation T-2 Modification and operations systems/subsystems, equipment, components, materials and parts under their control.

Qualifications/Requirements:
– U.S. Citizenship
– Obtain & maintain Security clearance
– Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical
– Knowledge of flight test instrumentation equipment, supplies, T-2 modification procedures, and common aircraft maintenance and repair processes with regards to flight test programs.
– Able to assist with physical movement of heavy equipment requiring the lifting and/or carrying of items weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted or up to 200 pounds with assistance from other personnel and materials moving devices.
– Knowledge of ComSec security procedures, compliance requirements, and regulations governing cryptographic handling procedures, storage and movement, utilizing best practices and following all security rules and regulations.
– Ability to analyze drawings, blueprints, schematics, and other technical data in the evaluation and selection of equipment and parts for instrumentation T-2 modifications and operations and to accomplish technical goals and objectives.
– Ability to lead and direct others. Ability to plan and organize work and to coordinate with other engineering technicians, project engineers, and maintenance and support personnel. Ability to maintain good working relationships.
