About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) (NH-2210-03) to work at the 412th Test Wing, 412th Mission Support Group, 412th Communications Squadron, (412 CS/SCXSA) at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
Serves as the supervisor for the Wing Cybersecurity Office Computer Security (COMPUSEC) section. Provides supervision and oversight of the installation COMPUSEC program which includes: the COMPUSEC Assessment Program, TEMPEST (formerly Emissions Security (EMSEC)), and the Air Force Assessment and Authorization (A&A) program (formerly known as Certification and Accreditation (C&A)) currently utilizing the Air Force Risk Management Framework (RMF) process. Enforces federal, DoD, and Air Force cybersecurity laws, regulations and directives.

Typical 2024 salary range: $101,121 – $156,323 per year (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Desired Skills:
– 2 years of experience in cybersecurity desired
– 2 years of software certification/approval desired
– 2 years of Lead/Supervisory experience desired
Major Duties:
– Serves as the Wing A&A and COMPUSEC lead.
– Applies Information Technology (IT) security principles, methods, and security products to protect and maintain the availability, integrity, confidentiality, and accountability of information systems.
– Establishes and publishes base-wide policy to manage the various aspects of the COMPUSEC program.
– Provides guidance in COMPUSEC policy and its implementation and in procedures used in the development and operation of the various existing and emerging COMPUSEC program's policies and directives.
– Serves as an ISSM for IT systems as directed
– Validates threats and vulnerabilities to the information systems to ensure the appropriate level of protection
– Provides oversight, guidance, and direction to ensure the wing COMPUSEC Assessment program, TEMPEST, and A&A programs are thorough and effective.
– Delivers presentations on program status to leadership, including, accomplishments, solutions, and future requirements for support
Qualifications/Requirements:
– U.S. Citizenship
– Knowledge of a full range of IT security principles, concepts, practices, products, services, and methods for evaluating risks and vulnerabilities, as well as implementing mitigating improvement, and disseminating IT security tools and procedures.
– Knowledge of IT security requirements for assessment and authorization (A&A) of information systems and networks, network operations and protocols, systems testing and evaluation, and performance management methods sufficient to plan and conduct security accreditation reviews.
– Knowledge of Wide Area Network and Local Area Network security requirements, techniques, tactics, and procedures for protecting computer systems from viruses, data tampering, and unauthorized system entry.
– Knowledge of a broad range of communications concepts and principles, operating modes, systems, media, equipment, equipment configuration, and related software systems, processes and procedures to assess and advise on vulnerability to attack from a variety of sources (e.g., espionage, disruption of services, destructive programs/applications) and procedures and methods for protection of systems and applications.
– Ability to analyze assessment and vulnerability findings and develop mitigation recommendations to alleviate IT security risks through the implementation of corrective actions.
– Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to subordinates, supervisors, unit and wing leadership; through email, point papers, powerpoint, etc.
– Ability to plan, organize, and direct the daily operations and staff of a small to medium sized organization, including training, safety, and mentorship of work center staff.
– Ability to gather data; and to interpret, identify patterns, and to develop metrics based on data and meta data.
