JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas – The Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center's reorganization into an Air Force Forces staff structure, commonly referred to as an A-Staff, reached full operational capability Oct. 1.
This achievement marks the culmination of a two-year effort to streamline operations and enhance decision-making across the center’s headquarters.
“I'm excited to say that after a two-year journey, we declare – as scheduled – full operational capability,” said Maj. Gen. John Allen, AFIMSC commander. “This new structure is already paying dividends for us, and I am excited to see how that will continue.”
AFIMSC initiated the reorganization to improve communication, coordination and responsiveness across its nine major functional areas, ultimately supporting the center’s ability to execute national defense and Department of the Air Force priorities.
"This change supports rapid decision-making, maximizes responsiveness, streamlines administrative processes, and enhances joint integration," said Col. Steven Lamb, AFIMSC deputy commander. “Most importantly, the A-Staff structure gets us ready to execute our mission more effectively.”
Though the A-Staff structure is now fully operational, AFIMSC leaders say they will continue efforts to optimize operations for the long term. For more information about the reorganization, visit the AFIMSC website at www.afimsc.af.mil/A-Staff.
AFIMSC’s globally integrated team ensures the Air Force and Space Force have the capable power projection platforms they need to execute their missions. In order to be a more effective mission partner, the center is transitioning to an Air Force Forces staff structure, more commonly known as an A Staff, at its headquarters. (U.S. Air Force Graphic)
