About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Supervisory General Engineer/Supervisory Mathematician/Supervisory Computer Scientist (NH-0801/1520/1550-04) to work at the 412 Test Wing, Test Engineering Group, 812 Test Support Squadron (812TSS/ENTT) at Edwards Air Force Base, California.

In this position you will serve as Flight Chief within the 812th Test Support Squadron. This position serves as the Supervisor for Application Developers, System Administrators, and Data Technicians providing data analysis and data management support for all engineering disciplines within the Test Engineering Group.

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2024 salary range: $142,094 – $191,900 (includes locality)
Telework Information: Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework"
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.

– Change management skills. Ability to understand organizational goals and align ENTT to meet those goals in the future.
– Ability to recruit, hire, train, and retain top talent to meet the evolving test technology needs. Understand the workforce, the demand signals, and place people where they can excel.

Major Duties:
– Exercises first level supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short/long-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work. Evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.
– Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the unit. Develops goals and objectives that integrate organization and objectives. Establishes, revises, or reviews policies, procedures, mission objectives, and organization design for the staff.
– Serves as a consultant and provides expertise with senior colleagues and/or agency officials in the application of advanced theories, concepts, and principles related to development or sustainment of broad programs operations.
– Performs professional aerospace engineering work involved in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes to the acquisition, development, or sustainment of weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment.

Qualifications/Requirements:
– U.S. Citizenship
– Obtain & maintain Security clearance
– This is a designated Drug Testing Position
– Expert knowledge of advanced concepts, principles, and techniques across multiple interrelated and integrated technical and test engineering disciplines
– Strong ability to plan and organize work, coordinate between various electronic/aerospace/mechanical engineering and test disciplines, and coordinate with other Air Force, DoD, and other domestic and foreign government agencies
– Strong ability to maintain good working relations and provide technical leadership
– Strong ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of personnel both orally and in writing and to use modern computer software applications in support of communications and presentations
