WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio – On Dec. 12, 2024, the Program Executive Office for Training’s Advanced Training Capabilities Division, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, awarded Northrop Grumman a 10-year, $801 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity Combat Air Forces’ (CAF) Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) 3.0 contract in support of Air Combat Command (ACC).
“The Combat Air Forces Distributed Mission Operations 3.0 contract will produce 20,000 hours of training yearly for the United States Air Force, Air National Guard, Air Force Special Operations Command, Joint U.S. Air Force-United States Navy, and coalition partners Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and Great Britain,” said JD White, ACC’s Chief for CAF DMO. “It would be four times the cost to the U.S. Air Force if we were to live fly these training hours versus doing them in the simulator. One of the greatest success stories for the CAF DMO 3.0 contract is the U.S. Air Force can now train 16 or more 5th Generation aircrew in DMO events with eight F-35 and F-22 locations connected to the DMO Network and 10-15 more sites planned during the life of the contract. When not at a Joint Integrated Test & Training Center, 4th and 5th generation aircrew will still be able to accomplish CAF/Joint/Coalition integration training from the Pacific, continental United States, and Europe on a daily basis.”
