About the Role:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Transportation Assistant (Passenger & Personal Property) NK-2102-02 to work at 412th Logistics Readiness Squadron, (LRS/LGRDF) at Edwards Air Force Base.
Warfighters delivering global logistics support for The Center of the Aerospace Testing Universe!" The purpose of this position is to provide information and advice to military and civilian personnel regarding their entitlements for domestic and international shipment and storage of personal property (e.g., household goods, unaccompanied baggage, privately owned vehicles, and special items such as mobile homes and large boats) and to provide passenger travel services for all personnel assigned or attached to the Air Force Test Center (AFTC).

Location: Edwards, CA (Edwards Air Force Base)
Typical 2025 salary range: $47,019 -$75,722 (includes locality)
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible
Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.
Desired Skills:
– Requires a practical knowledge of the regulations and methods governing traffic management or transportation programs.
– 4 years above high school
– Ability to respond to a range of questions from agencies, personnel, carriers, and others regarding the shipment and storage of household goods.
Major Duties
– Counsels and advises military and civilian personnel on domestic or international movement of personal property.
– Prepares and/or processes documents to complete moves, makes travel arrangements for groups and individuals, and arranges for shipping of property by all available means: including rail, air, sea, and vehicle.
– Calculates costs or reviews and verifies shippers’ invoices for proper charges.
– Maintains travel and passenger traffic records, reports, and correspondence.
Qualifications/Requirements:
– U.S. Citizenship
– Obtain & maintain Security clearance
– Position requires incumbent to maintain a Weigh master License issued by the State of California.
– May be required to participate in mobility exercises.
– Knowledge of automated transportation systems and procedures to include inbound/outbound GBLs and CBLs, Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS), Transportation Operation Personal Property System (TOPPS), Defense Personal Property System (DPS) and base financial software. Certification as a qualified typist is not necessary.
– Knowledge or the full range of transportation operations as related to the shipment of personal property.
– Knowledge of tariffs and government contracts regarding travel arrangements and of military and commercial modes of travel and how to arrange reservations for authorized travelers.
