About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic (Fire Alarm Technician) (WG-2606-10) to work at the 412th Test Wing,  412th Civil Engineer Group, 412th Civil Engineer Squadron, Facility Systems Flight, Fire Alarms Element (412 CES/CEOFA) at Edwards Air Force Base.

 

In this position you will be required to Test, Repair and Maintain Base wide Fire Alarm systems. Qualified personnel will know how to trouble shoot ground faults, open circuits and shorts. They will be required to have programming knowledge of fire alarm control systems. Also, Knowledge of radio-based transmission systems is necessary. A background in industrial controls is a plus. Personnel must have good communication skills and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Location: Edwards, California (Edwards Air Force Base)

Typical 2025 salary range: $33.59 – $39.13 per hour (includes locality)

Areas of Consideration (AOC): Department – wide (DoD)

Desired Skills:

– Journeyman level Fire Alarm Technician specializing in Notifier Fire Alarm systems.

– Knowledge of troubleshooting low voltage electrical circuits.

– Understanding of Basic Fire Alarm programming.

– Certifications/Licensure in California Fire Life Safety certification
 

Major Duties:

– Preventative maintenance fire alarm testing per AFMC and NFPA guidelines.

– Trouble shooting of fire alarm/mass notification systems.

– Trouble shooting of AES Radio transceivers and receivers.

– Repairing conventional and addressable Fire alarm systems per manufacturer instructions.

– Repairing RF transmission equipment including antennas and all cabling associated.

– Troubleshooting ground faults in a fire alarm system.

– Installing conduit and pulling electrical wiring.

Qualifications/Requirements:

– U.S. Citizenship

– Obtain & maintain Security clearance

– This is a designated Drug Testing Position

– Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical

– Shift work may be required

– The work will require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid state driver's license will be required for the position.

– Incumbent must maintain flight line driving certification.

– Emergency overtime may be required.

– The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

– May be required to participate in base contingency exercises.

– Shift work may be required.

– May be required to train/guide lower-graded (or other trades) military/civilian employees.

– Must obtain and maintain a current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification.
